Which of the following is equivalent to the statement that 0.5 is between 2/n and 3/n?

A) 1 < n < 6
B) 2 < n < 3
C) 2 < n < 5
D) 4 < n < 6
E) n > 10

The OA is D.

Please, can any expert assist me with this PS question? I don't have it clear and I appreciate if any explain it for me. Thanks.

First, we're given the following inequality: 2/n < 1/2 < 3/n. (Note that n would have be positive here, otherwise, 1/2 would not fall between the inequality's endpoints.)

Let's multiply through by n, which we know is positive, to get: 2 < n/2 < 3

Multiply through by 2 to get 4 < n < 6. The answer is D

We can create the inequality:

2/n < 1/2 < 3/n

2 < n/2 < 3

4 < n < 6

Answer: D
