hey nycgal,
thanks for your post. Can you tell us more about your profile - GMAT, GPA, Work Experience, Extra Curricular Activities, Post-MBA goals. Would be happy to provide suggestions on your candidacy and how VP (or other Admissions Consultants) can help you with your application.

Regards,

NP

Hi Nycgrl,

I'm sorry to hear that the GMAT has caused you such heartache. It's hard to say for certain without knowing the rest of your profile, but odds are that we really can help you maximize your chances of success.

We can do that by helping you do the two things that any successful applicant must do: 1) demonstrate fit with your target MBA programs and 2) differentiate yourself from the competition. A strong GMAT score can really help you do both of those things, but there are so many other attributes that you'll need to bring out in your application in order to be successful.

Some of these attributes include leadership abilities, teamwork, and maturity. Where Veritas Prep can help you is by drawing out these attributes from your own experiences. Some applicants focus on the wrong things, or are sitting on some great experiences that they don't properly utilize in telling their application story. An experienced admissions consultant, like those on the Veritas Prep team, is trained to recognize these attributes and help an applicant emphasize them.

A consultant can also help an applicant identify strengths in one area that can offset weakenesses in another. For example, if someone keeps getting a low quant score on the GMAT but can demonstrate strong analytical abilities in her work experience, an MBA admissions consultant can help her figure out how to use one to offset the other.

Hopefully, after your Veritas Prep class, a low GMAT score will no longer be an issue! But, keep in mind that every year we work with many applicants who have low GMAT scores. Let me know if you'd like to learn more!

from 610 to 570....flood to tsunami

by Ambition » Sun Oct 26, 2008 7:04 am
hi,

I took the GMAT exam a few months back..honestly speaking i had studied for 3 weeks only!!! i scored a 610. (Quant/Verbal:45/28)

This time...i studied coverng most books, practicing verbal very well..practiced from Princeton,Manhattan SC, 1000SC, Arco..etc..and I still CANNOT believe it...my score was 570 (43/25) ..took the exam a few days back.

I am just too stunned...Have so many things in my mind rt now..
Shud i apply with a 610? shud i just wait for another year? OR shud i re-take the exam?

Please advice!! i'm quite down n feeling low at the moment..
