Live to fight another day?

by vikz_316 » Sat Dec 06, 2008 7:39 am
Hello people,

My exam was scheduled on the 14th. My practice scores were nowhere near my target scores. So i chickened out and postponed my exam by 3 weeks.

My verbal scores have been a real letdown. I am scoring 45+ consistently in Quant, with errors being mainly of the careless type. I
keep scoring 25-35 range in Verbal and that, for me, is just depressing.I quit my job to write this exam, so you can imagine my predicament.

My weak areas are CR and RC, and the modifiers questions in SC.
I feel CR has 2 correct answers for most of the questions and the author's main point is in the first paragraph, when I mark it for the whole passage and for the whole passage, when I mark it reading the first paragraph.

This has been more like a rant, and yes I chickened out but it's all about living to fight another day.
Any people out there who have had radical change of scores, after postponing their exams, because I so don't want to believe that I have hit my peak, and it's all downhill from here.

you quit your job for the GMAT? What happens after you write it?

I had the same problem with CR, I wrote my test and got a 470, which was nowhere near the score I needed. I took approx. 2 months off from studying and have started up again. Whne I now look at CR I can see teh differences in teh anwser choices, some keywords to look for are all, its hard to explain. I know you are on a time constraint but maybe4 you should write it in three weeks and if your not happy take it again. Believe me I did not want to do this because I ahve a lot going on right now, my wife is expecting in three weeks and my company is going through massive layoffs. Just stay with and beat this test, it easy to let it beat you but dont let that happen
