Length of essays

by ishitasharan » Fri Oct 05, 2012 12:02 pm
How long should the application essays be ? (For when the length is not specified). The first school I am looking to apply, requires 3 essays.

Thanks !

What school is this for? What are the questions? I'm surprised to hear they don't even have a recommended length. I'd say put together a draft of everything you want to say in all three and then cut the number of words by at least 25%. We are all longwinded the first time around. But don't pay too much attention to me because this is completely arbitrary advice...

I am curious to know the name of this school that doesn't specify word limit for application essays.

Are you sure there is no word limit? read carefully! sometimes the limit is in the online application but not on the website.

As other suggested please read closely to see the word limit. If there is no limit truly, then try to limit between 500-750. Keep in mind that adcom reads hundreds of applications and you do not want them to skim and not get what you are trying to say.

Hope it helps.
