CR Question Stem -
Many people suffer an allergic reaction to certain sulfites, including those that are commonly added to
wine as preservatives. However, since there are several winemakers who add sulfi tes to none of the
wines they produce, people who would like to drink wine but are allergic to sulfi tes can drink wines produced by these winemakers without risking an allergic reaction to sulfites.
Guys -
What I want to understand is explain me in layman's language what the above highlighted sentence really means ...
My question - what is this sentence trying to tell - ADD sulphites to none of the wines
Does that mean that the winemakers add sulphites to wines that other's produce and not to their wines ?
Probably being dumb..So ignore my naivety with the "sulphites" and the "wines" and the "wine makers"
OG CR -Need to understand the Stem.Language is mind boggling

All its saying is that some winemakers add sulphites to the wines they produce, while other winemakers do not add any sulphites to the wines they produce.
I remember this question from OG. It's an interesting one.

However, since there are several winemakers who add sulfi tes to none of the wines they produce,
How can you "add " something(sulphites) to none of "something (wines)" - So you have committed the action of adding ...so what are they adding the sulphites to ? still perplexed

LOL. I know what you mean, the wording is just confusing.. They could have written it in simpler way by saying, "However, since there are several winemakers who do not add sulphites to any of the wines they produce"debmalya_dutta wrote:But just look at this constructionbeatthegmatinsept wrote:All its saying is that some winemakers add sulphites to the wines they produce, while other winemakers do not add any sulphites to the wines they produce.

that boldface means simply is " some wine-makers dont add sullfit into wine they make"
the whole passage can be understood like this :
some people who like drinking get allergic reaction to S, a compound which is added to wine. Some winemakers dont add S into the wine they make , thus people who get allergic reaction to S can drink the wine those winemaker make.
do you get it now?
