Very Nervous

by readyforthegmat » Mon Aug 26, 2013 5:25 pm
Hello All,

I am taking the GMAT this Friday and have been studying non stop. I am on my last stretch here trying to study and gain more confidence. I have been getting 600~ on practice exams but I would like to score 650+.

I have been averaging 33 on the verbal and my weakest point is the SC. I used the Manhattan study guide and didn't find it useful. Does anyone know of any other book for SC?

My weak point is the quant, I have gone through the Manhattan books and the OG 13. I also bought the 8 practice tests, so I will be doing those. Does anyone else have recommendations for studying quant this last week? I will also use the GMATPREP.

Thank you in advance!

Hi readyforthegmat,

With only a few days to go before your GMAT, you shouldn't be doing too much work because we don't want you to burn out in these last few days. You should take only 1 CAT and spend the bulk of your time doing light review, working on small sets of practice problems, making sure you know all of the math formulas and grammar rules, etc.

With the "weak spots" you described (SCs, the Quant Section), it's possible that you'll need to retest. There's nothing wrong with retesting because Business Schools know that some people need to take the GMAT more than once. In the event that you retest (either by need or choice), then you're going to want to use those extra CATs that you have, so DON'T run through them just to do them.

You should report back here with your scores and the Forum can offer some perspective on your performance.
