The physical structure of the human eye enables it to sense light of wavelengths up to 0.0005 millimeters; infrared radiation, however, is invisible because its wavelength-0.1 millimeters- is too long to be registered by the eye.
A)infrared radiation, however, is invisible because its wavelength -0.1 millimeters- is too long to be registered by the eye
B)however, the wavelength of infrared radiation-0.1 millimeters- is too long to be registered by the eye making it invisible
C)infrared radiation, however, is invisible because its wavelength- 0.1millimeters- is too long for the eye to register it.
Question from the official guide to GMAT.
( no need for D, E options since they are wrong)
Can anyone please explain why to choose C instead of A?
OG shows A as the right answer and does not give sufficient explanation on either A or C options.
thanks in advance, your help will be appreciated.

I hope you meant C is the OA. A semicolon separates 2 independendent clauses & hence A & C are worth considering. In A "is too long to be registered by the eye" is not correct. It should be "too long for the eye to register it."sadullaevd wrote: Can anyone please explain why to choose C instead of A?

Well, i really meant A as the OA(above) since OG picks A, personally i see it as C. Cant get why is passive instead of active?Anyway, thanks a lot for your effort.Vemuri wrote:I hope you meant C is the OA. Since this is the sentence from medical ,technical text passive voice is logical here..
Google the sentence and you may find better expln than what I've mentioned above.
I'll send you link in case I find any.
