I just got back from taking the gmat and im very disappointed with myself. ive been studying ever since august with the manhattan gmat books. all the practice tests ive taken were between 670-710 so i have no clue what went wrong, i thought i did really well. i have no clue what to do now, my target score was a 700 and im extremely upset with myself.

any advice to improve my score? does anyone have a review of the manhattan gmat online classes?

thanks,
chris

ohh man!...you guys are making me scared now with these posts! :(

All of the people who got scores of 680-710 in mocks are getting towards the lower ends.?!?

What going on there....some low experimental are added now in the original one !

P.S:What scores were you getting on verbal part in mocks?..Also did you select to take the experimental section?

Yeah, definetely not a good day to take GMAT!
If you choose not to do the experimental part while registering, then the site tells you that you have to choose another date, outside the experimental testing week. At least, that's what happened to me, when I registered!

huh?!...thats new.....what date were they giving you?.

I have been actually following a trend of test takers here and asking them the same question. All of the guys who had taken the test during these last three days had the same complain as yours (i.e of getting lower scores than mocks). It seems to me that for some reason they had removed the Experimental questions from the 'test section' of the GMAT, and included it for extensive testing in the later 30 min 'exp' section.

It could be that mostly some exp questions came into the rescue of the questions answered wrong in the previous GMAT, while it was not happening in this case, after they had been removed. Thus the low scores.

Well, I don't remember exactly, since I registered in October, but they proposed dates before November 19th or after 24/25/26 of November. I'm in Eastern Europe, if it makes any difference.
In fact, you might be right about the experimental questions. I have a friend who will take GMAT on Wednesday, so we'll see what score will she get.

apart from this; did you feel any part of nerves playing in?, or was the Quant or Verbal more difficult than GMATprep/ MGMAT CAT's?

Well, no, I was absolutely calm, AWA topics were ok, so it made me feel better, since I'm not that good with essays as I'm not a native speaker.
The math part was same as GMATPrep and much much easier than Manhattan. Now at home I found one mistake I made in a geometry problem, plus there were 2 difficult data-sufficieny problems involving sets and Venn diagrams, otherwise it was ok.
The Verbal part was a bit more difficult than GMATprep and even more difficult than Manhattan (but I have observations, that Manhattan verbal problems tend to be less difficult than the orginal ones). RC texts were interestng and not that difficult, but the questions were more challenging. I had some problems with several SC and CR, as I couldn't choose between 2 options, or needed time to understand how to eliminate wrong answers. In fact, CR questions were the toughest, but still I didn't feel like getting 35 on verbal. In fact I was more than sure that I'll get 47-49 on math and 38-41 on verbal, but I was obviously wrong about the latter.

wow...makes no sense. One guy who just gave the test today thought the quant on the test was riddled with long passage like quant word problems, which made his score dip lower than even MCAT's..but still he mnaged to get 720...although lower in quant than what he was getting on MCAT's.

It looks verbal did the most of the 'dipping' here i.e If you were getting continuously above 40 on verbal.

The animal gets harsh. It can already climb the upper sides from where it jumps suddenly onto us. We must be careful, as the animal has been raised and fed by our land neighboring people - the ACT's psycho-metering team. We may be afraid of the animal... Yet we are the men to hunt for it and kill it. We need this animal badly! Let's keep on hunting.
My knowledge frontiers came to evolve the GMATPill's methods - the credited study means to boost the Verbal competence. I really like their videos, especially for RC, CR and SC. You do check their study methods at https://www.gmatpill.com

Hey Chris,

It happens to all of us man, you just have to stay motivated and come up with a study plan to get you up to 700. You're already in the ballpark and chances are that you had a bad day and need to improve just a bit. I didn't do the MGMAT online course but thought their books were pretty good. PM me if you have any questions.

Good Luck!
