I'm applying to two schools for Masters of Accounting but I have no background in business or finance whatsoever (I was a fine arts major in undergrad). The GMAT averages at the schools I'm applying to are 595 and 652. So my goal for the GMAT was to get at least 600, hopefully around 650.
Here's how I did on practice tests:
Kaplan Practice: 600 Q33 V43
Kaplan CAT 1: 570 Q33 V36
Kaplan CAT 2: 540 Q26 V32
GMATPrep 1: 700 ? ?
GMATPrep 2: 690 Q40 V44
Actual GMAT: 640 Q38 V41 AWA 6.0
I used the Kaplan Premier 2010-2011, CliffsNotes Math Review for Standardized Tests, part of the OG12, and the GMATPrep tests.
I met my goal, and I'm going to apply to the schools now. The only thing I'm a little concerned about is that my quant and verbal scores are so far apart. The Q38 puts me in the 50th percentile, and the V41 is the 91st percentile. But that is just where my strength lies, and I don't think it indicates that I will be unable to understand the concepts in accounting.
Best of luck to everyone here!
Met my GMAT goal of around 650
