Hey there!

Careers in media and entertainment are becoming more and more popular for MBAs. You'll want to consider schools in LA, NYC, and Chicago as these are prime cities for the industry. Out in LA, UCLA is a great option and out of NYC both Stern and CBS have excellent programs. In Chicago, Kellogg is known to have a strong Media Management Program.

That said - if you're coming from a family construction business with an engineering background...convincing the adcom of a media related story is going to be tough. We have two videos on our website [here] that talk about career goals. I'd suggest you check them out.

Hope this helps! If you want to chat more about your background and how it fits with the schools listed above, [sign up for a free consultation] with us! Sometimes it's just easier to chat live.

Hello

You can have a promising career in media and entertainment with an MBA from a good business school. Generally business schools of universities that have excellent art schools, make the best place to pursue an MBA in this direction. NYU-Stern leads the list in this category. So does Dartmouth - Tuck. Not coming from a background in media is okay. But it is important that you show real passion for this field and exhibit it in some ways. During under-graduation, did you take any coursework related to production or humanities in general, that could be responsible for your interest in this area. Do you have any work experience or any other experience in this industry. With a background in engineering you could make an excellent career in the animation industry.

One of our interviewers worked in finance before she completed her MBA from Stern and joined the entertainment industries. You can read about her experience here https://www.interviewbay.com/interview_t ... w-tips.php. You should also look at business schools such as USC-Marshall.

Hope this helps
All the Best

Check out USC Marshall! You'll be in the media capital of the world and at a great, but obtainable school. They obviously have a program with an entertainment focus, plus a very large student club that works with the entertainment industry.
