by nolf » Tue Dec 23, 2008 8:24 am
Hi all,

I am taking the GMAT on the 31st of March next year.... So can anyone tell me as to how I must start preparing for it...the different ways in which to prepare...

Also the books that I use for the preparation...

Thanks

Here's some advice to get you started:

1. Take a diagnostic test so that you know your starting point and your weaknesses. Here's a free Veritas test to get you started:

https://www.veritasprep.com/gmat-prepara ... ctice-GMAT

You should also download the GMAT Prep tests from mba.com.

2. Buy yourself the GMAT Official Guides, which are three books of actual old GMAT questions. You'll get over 1,500 practice questions. These books are the best GMAT study materials available.

3. Buy yourself a prep guide from a reputable GMAT company. While the questions in the Official Guides are superb, the explanations are terrible in that they usually don't solve problems in the quickest or easiest way.

4. Consider signing up for a prep course or tutoring. Depending on your diagnostic test score, you may decide you need some help along the way.

Good luck getting started!

Hey

Thanks a lot for the info... Yeah actually I started with the OG itself...got only the 11th edition...

I just finished the SC and Quant in that.. got abt 97 out of the 130 questions right... Still yet to take up a test...

What do u think based on the number of questions that I got right....the first time...

I got even the princeton review book.... So doin the shortcuts from tat and applyin to the OG questions...

Did you *really* finish? Check Ron's post in the following thread to see:

You probably still have some work to do!

And, the number right isn't very helpful - your score depends on a lot more than the raw numbers. You really need to take a computerized test and then report back.
