2/y+4/y= (2+4)/y=6/y=3(given) hence y=6/3=2. Ans.) y=2

Y can also be equal to zero

2/y + 4/y = 3
2y + 4y = 3y^2
6y = 3y^2
2y=y^2
y^2 - 2y = 0
y(y-2)=0

y= 2 or 0

Sorry, y cannot be zero, since 2/0 is not defined.
