New To The Site

by ryanmcd11 » Sun Mar 03, 2013 7:07 pm
Hey everyone. My name is Ryan and I'm 30 and from Ohio with a background in industrial engineering. I am very thankful for this site because it gives me a formal process and structure for preparing for the GMAT. I am good at math and solving problems, but was shocked at how much I had forgot when taking the diagnostic exams, and scored a 510 on the diagnostic exam. That was a true wake up call, and motivated me to really take GMAT preparation seriously.

I know that I want to get an MBA, but want to get it from a reputable school and I know a high GMAT score is the most single important way to stand out in an application. It's like the 40 time for a future NFL player. The stories on here are inspirational and I am impressed with the amount of resources that are available on this site. I am looking forward to the day where I can post how I beat the GMAT, and see what doors it will open for me in my career.

Hey Ryan,

Welcome to BTG.

Great analogy with the NFL benchmark.
As an engineer, you probably already possess a lot of the foundation skills required to do well on the GMAT. With a few GMAT-specific strategies, I'm sure you'll get that 4.3 40.

Cheers,
Brent
