I am partial to Elements of Style by Strunk and White. It is a pretty compact guide to grammar rules. Several of my English teachers in both high school and college recommended it to me.

Best wishes,

thank you very much. that book is great. I, however, need a more comprehensive book which cover all things from basic one to advanced one. I am a non-native speaker of English and my background is in engineering.

A lot of people on here recommend the Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction book.

Also, the delicious resource page on here has tons of information from beginner to advanced.

Basically, only study the elements that are tested on the GMAT.
