GMAT Scores submit question.

by Zipper » Fri Dec 19, 2008 8:37 am
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if bschools can see what other schools you submit your GMAT scores to. For instance if on test day I submit H/S/W/CM/K will Kellog for instance know that I've submitted my scores to H/S/W etc. I am asking coz I am a very good fit (in my opinion) for a top program and I am considering applying only there. If they see I've submitted scores only to their program it's kind of a proof (isn't it?) that I really did my homework and am certain that their program is the one for me (they won't doubt that I am applying to a lot of schools trying my luck in a way).

The question came to me after a conversation that I had with a friend of mine (who btw got in to HBS Full-time right after undergrad. he had only a couple of years part-time exp i think). He applied only to HBS, nowhere else. I can not understand the level of certainty he had to have to apply ONLY at HBS (H B S NOT KELLOG OR ROSS, H B S, i can't stress this enough) and no backup. Realizing all this I called him again and asked him if he knew he would get in, he said "haha, no, honestly I didn't think I even had a chance,I just had to try and had my hopes for a miracle, but realistically... I did not think I would get in".

It's still beyond me how he didn't even had a backup. I think it's safe to say that all of us (well I should say MOST OF US here, since someone may feel as he did) will apply to AT LEAST 2 schools, average probably 4. I am not sure if he submitted his GMAT (780 btw) only to HBS but I do know he applied only there. I should mention that he is probably the smartest person I know and I am sure he didn't get in because of something like this (or at least this was not the deciding factor). So yeah, this is the story (yeah I guess nobody really cared about the story anyway :)) of how I thought of this question. And if they really can see such information I guess some experienced MBA admission officers do look at such things.

Anyway if someone is that familiar with the admission process please answer. Thoughts are welcome too.

Thank you all for reading all this that could have been asked in 2 sentences but I really admire his story and though it would be fun to share so I continued typing :D

Dear Zipper,

The official score report does not show where you sent your scores, so unless you divulge the other schools on your application or in an interview, the school will not know where else you have applied.

Good luck,
Lisa
