In March 2023, GMAC announced that the Official GMAT Exam would undergo a significant transformation in Q4 2023 with the introduction of the GMAT Focus Edition. This new edition of the exam led to numerous questions and inquiries in the GMAT world. The GMAT Focus Edition will be available from Q4 2023, and test-takers will have the choice between the "old" GMAT and the new version during late 2023 and early 2024.

This comprehensive information hub aims to answer all your questions about the new GMAT Focus Edition:

Key Features of the GMAT Focus Edition:
- Shortest GMAT exam ever: 2 hours, 15 minutes long with only 3 sections, 64 questions, and no writing assessment.
- Three sections:
- Quantitative Reasoning: 45 minutes, 21 problem-solving questions without Geometry and Data Sufficiency.
- Verbal Reasoning: 45 minutes, 23 critical reasoning and reading comprehension questions without Sentence Correction.
- Data Insights: 45 minutes, 20 questions that combine Integrated Reasoning and Data Sufficiency focused on data literacy.
- Composite score range of 205-805 with section scores between 60-90.
- Question Review & Edit: Bookmark, review, and change up to three answers per section.
- Select Section Order: Choose the order in which to take the sections.
- Improved Official Score Report: Detailed performance insights provided for free.
- Easier Score Sending: Send scores to five schools for free after knowing the results.

Comparison with the "old" GMAT Exam:
- The GMAT Focus Edition will be nearly an hour shorter.
- Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) is removed.
- Geometry and Data Sufficiency removed from the Quantitative Reasoning section, Sentence Correction eliminated from the Verbal Reasoning section.
- Data Insights section, a mashup of Integrated Reasoning and Data Sufficiency, will count toward the composite score.
- Option to change up to three answers per section.
- Free Enhanced Score Report with better insights.
- New score scale for easier interpretation.

Exam Structure and Overview:
- The GMAT™ Focus Edition has 64 questions in total, divided into three 45-minute sections:
- Quantitative Reasoning: 21 questions
- Verbal Reasoning: 23 questions
- Data Insights: 20 questions

New Exam Features:
- Question Review & Edit: Bookmark and review as many questions as you want, with the ability to change up to three answers per section.
- Select Section Order: Take the exam in any section order you prefer.
- Improved Score Report: Detailed performance insights included with each exam for free.
- Easier score sending: You can now select programs after receiving scores at both test centers and online, and each Official Score report contains only one exam score.

Section Content Changes:
- Quantitative Reasoning no longer contains Geometry or Data Sufficiency questions.
- Focuses on arithmetic and algebraic problem-solving skills.
- No calculator allowed in this section.

- Verbal Reasoning no longer contains Sentence Correction questions.
- Includes Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning questions covering main idea, supporting idea, inference, application, logical structure, style, argument formation/evaluation, and plan formulation/evaluation.

Data Insights Section:
- Measures candidates' ability to analyze/interpret data and apply it to real-world business scenarios.
- Combines Integrated Reasoning and Data Sufficiency question types focused on data literacy.
- On-screen calculator allowed in this section.
- Questions involve graphic, numeric, and verbal information.
- Question types include: Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Graphics Interpretation, and Two-Part Analysis.
