Being in the Indian IT Pool, 730 is just average.
Nevertheless, I just asked a pal of mine, an MBA from Indian School of Business, he quoted this:
his score was 740. The class average was 700 and median was 710.

I am targeting NY schools, Columbia or Stern.
Will target Columbia ED.
Starting work on my essay, immediately.

Preparation TIP:
1) Manhattan GMAT is all you need. It's a little tougher than actual GMAT
2) Quant is cake walk, if you have engineering background. just slow down and solve with confidence
3) Verbal - focus on sentence correction, use Man GMAT SC. this kills, so practice a lot, if you wanna cross 750.
4) maths, if solved at an ok pace, would be done, in just about the allocated time, in verbal you will save some.
5) ZEN: Signs of confidence: pen is in firm grip, and rough work is neat, the numbers\letters you are writing are small & readable

Your final score is whatever you get in GMATPrep, usually v close.
