hi everyone,
this was my second shot. Last time i was not at all prepared, but because i had booked the slot i went and gave my test.i didn't even knew that i could postpone it!!! I got a 640 (48,28) then (nov 2008). So can say that was my starting point.
Since then it has been a long journey. I found it very difficult to study with my job as my work kept me occupied even on sundays. For some days i could study for few hours but in toto negligible. SO, I managed a months leave and decided to give test during that.
Practically, I can say the total time i devoted for my preparation is 21 days. I had plethora of material with me.
- All MGMAT guides. (except Geometry)
- OG 11, 12, and reviews
- Powerscore CR bible.
- Paper Tests from mba.com
Though my score does not make me any authority, guys i can confidently say, this is all what you require.
My last week of preparation was just giving tests. My practice scores were:
MGMAT 1 - 590(38,33)
MGMAT 2 - 650(45,34)
MGMAT 3- 630 (43,33)
GMAT prep 1 - 710(49,39)
MGMAT 4 - 630(43,33)
GMAT prep 1 II - 690(49,35)
GMAT prep 1 III - 750(50,41)
GMAT prep 2 - 680 (47, 36) Exactly what i got in GMAT!!!
I think i concentrated to much on verbal and neglected my maths. But that was requried as i was really weak in SC and RC.
I think i could have done much better. I got panicked during my maths, and lost track of my time. Maybe if I would have got 49, I would have touched 700.
Anyways, now i am really confused as to take a retest or not. I know i can do much better, maybe i can make it to 750 next time. But then i wonder is it worth??? Afterall GMAT is just one part of application process. Clearly, with my job i will not be able to devote time for my preparation. My next attempt will again be a 21 days marathon!!!
My target school is ISB. Anybody any views.
