(1) X^2=2X

(2) 3X=7X

OA is B

No, statement 2 is OK. That is why I posted this question. It seems as if there is so much we can learn ;)

STATEMENT 1
x can be 0 0r 2.
From I x is 2
Hence x is 2
Sufficient

STATEMENT 2
x is 0
Not sufficient

Either this question is incomplete or it is flawed.

If we assume that the question is complete and (x² + 2x - 8 = 0) is a given condition and we have to find the value of x, then the question is flawed. This is because from the question stem the value of x is either 2 or -4. But according to statement 2 only possible value of x is 0. Now the two statements of a DS question must assist the original question whether or not they are sufficient to answer the question. In this case statement is simply an arbitrary one and has nothing to do with the actual question. Thus the question is neither a standard GMAT question nor it is a proper "Data Sufficiency" question.

Thank you! This question was taken from question bank of a major GMAT prep company. I myself had difficulties in understanding why OA is correct.
