C - explains why they saw increased brightness but not breakage until November.

D - so what? they already saw brightness in September
B - so what? additional information about why brightness was increased but we are trying to answer why they can't see breakage.
A - even more strange, it just intensifies paradox about brightness in the very beginning and lack of breakage.
