Hi everyone,

first time I'm posting on this forum but I came here a lot to see ppl comments while I was studying for my GMAT a month ago ;)

As I'm living in the province of Quebec. I'm in the process of preparing my admission for HEC Montreal (done last week), McGill and Concordia universities. I was just wondering if I have any chances to get scholarship in one of the program. I'm looking at applying for part-time studies (working at the same time) but would consider full-time if I would receive full scholarship.

Do you know if a GPA of 3.61 in Mechanical Engineering at Ecole Polytechnique, GMAT score of 690 and approx. 5 years of work experience in engineering/aircraft certification/operations/quality in top companies (4 years at Bombardier Aero and internships at Caterpillar, Rio Tinto Alcan and Pratt & Whitney Canada) would give me a chance to obtain a full scholarship for any of the MBA program ? More specifically, do you know if full scholarship at McGill would be possible for me (full time - around 60k $)?

According to stats offered by each university, my GMAT, GPA and work experience are all solid compared with the average student. For instance, McGill average GMAT score is 660 and GPA of around 3.0. I've scored a 690 on the GMAT, considering I am french-canadian, I think this is pretty solid.

Thank you !

Totally agree. If you apply to those schools you should do well! You have wonderful numbers and what seems like very solid work experience. Now, all you gotta do is make that application SHINE

hey maxlamb,

I applied to all of those 3 schools (as I wanted to stay in Quebec) for 2012 matriculation, and I've been accepted into all 3. I am not really sure what Concordia's criterias for scholarship are, but it was the only school that did not offer me one. McGill offers up to 50% of the tuition in terms of entrance awards (amount to be divided equally in year 1 and 2), but there are other scholarships available (but I do believe they are for year two students, but I could be wrong). The most important determinant for McGill scholarship (in terms of $$ amount) is the GMAT score. My GMAT wsa similar to yours, and although the scholarship was significant, it was not the max 50%. HEC also offers entrance scholarship and I received one that is roughly equivalent to 85% of the tuitions. From my experience, they take into consideration GMAT, work experience, as well as undergraduate GPA and demonstrated leadership. From an ROI perspective, as a Quebec student, HEC offers the best deal financially. However, ultimately I went with a 2 year program, as the main reason for my pursuing a mba is to change career paths (and my understanding is that an internship is critical to do so).

Good luck!
