Taking more time to solve CR

by hey_thr67 » Fri May 20, 2011 1:25 am
Hi All,

While the scarcity of GMAT demands CR that it be solved with in 1:30 minutes, I am unusually taking an avg of 2:00 min to solve. As I analyzed my approach I find that I read the argument more than once. When I started attempting the CR I used read the argument first and then the question but as suggested by lot of books and forums I later changed my strategy to first read the question. Since then I have observed an increase in my avg timing. Please suggest how to reduce my timing.

Thanks ...

Oh dear.. dude you are exceptional... you are fit enough even to attempt LSAT.

1.30sec is for LSAT and 2.20sec for GMAT are typical benchmarks. :)
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..
Regards,
HSPA.

If you are reading the argument more than once, it's because you aren't breaking it down and understanding it the first time. I suggest writing down the parts of the argument and your prediction for the question before reading the answer choices. If you practice this untimed and work on 100% accuracy first, then your scores will really start to improve. The more you practice, the faster your pacing. Go for accuracy first, pacing will follow. :-) There is no shortcut to strategy, and pacing is no good unless accuracy is excellent.
