hi guys
isnt 'nearly' an adverb and 'fiftyperccent a noun' ?if yes they r then is nearly fifty percent correct gram,matically?adverb +noun?the oa is b but i m a bit confused;someone plz clarify;i wld appreciate that!!!!

266. During the Great Depression, industrial output fell by nearly fifty percent from its peak in 1929 down to its nadir in 1933.

by nearly fifty percent is suppose to modify fell thus it should be placed close to fell. Hence Ans B

dude,If you see the option A, there is a redundancy in that.It says Fell to its nadir and then uses DOWN.
So A is already eliminated.

"fell" and "down" are redundant. So, A and C are out.
In D and E, "by nearly fifty percent" doesn't modify "fell".

So, B is the right answer.
