College and GMAT Info

by psibond » Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:58 am
Hi guys..i wrote GMAT recently and got 600(50q-20v). Now i am confused.

Should i use the same score to apply to some schools ranked around 40-50. Can some one tell me about the job perspective of the schools ranked around 50.

I have 2.4/4 GPA and now 2.25 year of experience. By the time i will join any school it will be more than 3 years.

I want to apply with this score, because i dont want to waste one more year working. 2ndly i am not at all confident of my verbal part(i got 20 in this part). I lack speed and concentration while doing verbal part. So is it a good decision to apply with low score.

Another option is 2 write GMAT again..with full preparation, proper verbal preparation and i need time for this kind of preparation for sure. That means i can only apply next to next year, ie i have to waste a year and wait for one more year.

And, i heard that GMAT questions are relatively easier in some months than others..whatever i heard,is it a rumour or is it true.

Thanks in advance

Hi psibond

If I were in your shoes and looking at Full time programs, and that too top 30 I would consider writing the GMAT again. A weak link I think is the 2.4 GPA a strong GMAT will neutralize that.

Check out profiles of the 40 - 50 ranked schools in the Businessweek site they also carry the average GMAT score of the class entering each year. This should give you a fair sense of what is required ......... in terms of GMAT

Finally, am not sure where you are located but coaching should improve your score in the verbal, you could sign up for the 50 point guarantee. As for th deadlines you could still easily apply for R2 deadlines for the class starting in Aug 2011.

Cheers

@psibond

The R2 varies but usually it is around the mid Jan time frame, which will give you ample time to write the GMAT again. Again just check out the Businessweek profiles of b-schools they are very detailed with deadlines etc.

Finally, Hyderabad has many great coaching institutes, do your homework and join them ..... they should most probably help.

Cheers
