Arithmetic:Ratio - What is number of dots ?

A diagram has exactly two black dots and one green dot for every two red dots. There are no dots of any other color in the diagram. Which of the following could be the number of dots in the diagram ?

A] 3
B] 18
C] 36
D] 45
E] 52

fixed dots --> black, the number is 2
linearly related dots --> 1 green for 2 red

answer-2=3x; x is a MUST integer
A] 3-2=3x /no
B] 18-2=3x /no
C] 36-2=3x /no
D] 45-2=3x /no
E] 52-2=3x /no

The language of the question could have been better. Nevertheless, it says

2 black and 1 green for every 2 red dots

n(2b+ g +2r) = 5n => total # of dots must be divisible by 5

Answer D

aha, thanks stormier - I thought it says only two black for whole diagram ~wording
suggest: "A diagram, for every two red dots, has exactly two black dots and one green dot ..." ambiguity is involved
