Nouns

by ashblog02 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 6:42 am
From power-score bible-General Washington led the continental army across the Delaware river by the over of darkness.Over one thousand unsuspecting Hessian soldiers were camped out in the homes and businesses of Trenton, where they had just celebrated Christmas far from their German homeland

I have a grammar question- according to PS bible soldiers is a common noun but shouldn't it be hessian soldiers as proper noun- it is identifying a type of soldiers -

General Washington is a proper noun- Washington is identifying the general doesn't the same concept apply to soldiers who as hessian.

Hey ashblog02 --

"Hessian" is an adjective, it's describing the type of soliders (from Hess, we guess?).
