goelmohit2002 : Can someone please tell why D is wrong ?

-----------------

In D we have : " than in any month since October 1987". This month will include the month of July too which would then be ackward.

Also, " sales of fund shares in July were not as low as an industry trade group... " . Here as ...as comparison is not having parallel structure.

Hope that helps

Can you please elaborate a bit on this....? I am not able to understand this....how they are not parallel here but in E they are parallel.

the rule says this :

when two objects are compared with each other , the latter term of comparison must exclude the former .

For example : 1. satish is clever than any other student in his class (correct )

2. satish is clever than any student in his class(Incorrect )

If you aasume the second sentence to be true see what happens. any student in his class includes satish also . This leads us to the conclusion : satish is clever than satish . This is rdiculous . How can we eliminate satish from the latter part of the sentence then? well if we say any other student , it will mean any student other than satish . So the correct version is - " satish is clever than any other student in his class ".

Hi Abhas,

Yes, I was able to understand this point#1 (" This month will include the month of July too which would then be ackward. ") that mani made in his post....

but I was not able to understand his point#2 "Also, " sales of fund shares in July were not as low as an industry trade group... " . Here as ...as comparison is not having parallel structure. "

Can you please elaborate what is meant by point#2 ?
