Today, Bill is thirteen times as old as Pete. In nine years, Bill will be four times as old as Pete. How old will Pete be 2 years from today?

B=13P

B+9=4(P+9)

Substitute B=13P into the above equation:

13P+9=4P+36

13P-4P=27

9P=27

P=3

2 years from today, Pete will be 3+2 or 5 years old.
