Hello good people. I scored a 440 in January 2011 and have taken a long break from GMAT since then. I'm now raring to go again and want to start preparing for the GMAT. I am planning on writting in 3-4months. I stay in Zimbabwe and we do not have so much materials and rely on the US Education Advising Centre which almost always do not have the most recent study material. I would want to know which books I could use to study. I used Princeton Study Books but I felt they misled me to think the GMAT was an easy go. Unfortunately, there are no classroom courses here. I also did only one practice test, an area which I think I should improve on.

I would appreciate a list of books I can order. I am from a finance background and am targeting 700+ on GMAT to enter into the best business schools in the US.

Many Thanks

Why dont you go for personalized online coaching for GMAT by some good coaches.

1. Cracking the GMAT
Written by the Princeton Review, this book is all about strategies and techniques that will help you score higher on the exam. It also contains 200 practice questions (with answers and explanations) and a CD-Rom with full-length practice tests.

2. Kaplan GMAT
Written by Kaplan, a recognized leader in college test prep and admissions services, this book is an advanced guide for ambitious students who dream of high GMAT scores. The hundreds of very difficult practice questions (with detailed answers) cover math tactics, critical reasoning, and data sufficiency problems.

3. The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review
The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review is an excellent GMAT study guide for students who need practice with problem solving and data sufficiency questions.

4. The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review
The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review is an excellent GMAT study guide for people who need practice with reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence correction questions.

See there are two ways to get coaching online. One is from the top 4 firms mentioned above and other is from freelancers(who are obviously extremely popular and excellent ) on good sites.

Latter one is good if you really want personalised coaching. https://goo.gl/W3wRR

Thanks a lot. But how do i contact the freelancers? Are the courses for payment because the last site you sent was a free one. I have since registered.

Do a little site searching about the reputation of good GMAT coaches. Then buy their packages. Before buying you can send them personal messages and inquire how they will teach, timing and compare them with others.

They are good because they are not run of the mill. You can ask them to analyse you first by seeing what you lack. Then ask them to coach you in those aspects.

I hope it helps.

Prepare hard and I wish you cross 700.
