GMAT Strategy

Hey guys,

I've been doing practice sets of 10 questions on the GMAT Prep software and I am about to take the GMAT Prep Practice test. I noticed that the timer on the practice sets counts how long you've been on each problem individually and I can't seem to find a way to hide this timer. Is the GMAT Prep Practice test different? I assume it's like the real test where there is a timer at the top right that counts down, not up. If so do I just click on the timer to hide it?

I encourage you to think about hiding that timer. You have good instincts in wanting to not be distracted by the timer counting down.

In fact , I tried working while hiding the timer but it never worked for me , David . Throughout my whole life I got used to working with a clock in front of me and this helps me a lot to keep control of my timing strategy . Is it advisable even in my case to hide the timer or is it ok as long as it does not bother me ? Thanks in advance

There is an easy answer to this and to all similar questions...try it in a practice test and see what happens!

Try a practice test with the timer and one without and see what feels better. The same with earplugs, try with earplugs and without (do this in a location like a library that has a similar level of light background noise like the test center).

In your case it sounds like the timer can be left up with no problem and you do not even need to try hiding it if it never bothered you!

Just remember, never do anything on test day unless you have practice it on a practice test!
