Hi,
I am having serious trouble in getting right answers in RC.
Till now i have done around 300 passages and what i have found out is, i got all 4/5 right in passages related to "History,science,etc.. " except in "Business" passages where i got all wrong.
I am not very well understanding the underlying meaning in business passages.
Any thoughts or advice pl?
I have my GMAT scheduled on 27th Aug.
Thanks,
Chitra

Hi chitrasekar2k5,
How have you been scoring on your practice CATs? Your "problem" might be in RC, but if you're good at everything but the "business passage", then you're nailing about 3/4 of RC right there (and that doesn't sound like a "problem area" to me). The tactics for RC are the same regardless of the content, so it might be that your approach to RC is flawed.
If you're not scoring close to your goal, then you might consider pushing back your test a bit so that you can get in some more study time.

A few tips about business passages:
- First, if you're familiar with the topic of the passage, avoid applying your personal knowledge when answering the questions. Remember that the answers must be derived from the information in the passage only.
- Second, it's important to note that business passages often have questions that ask about the author's tone or opinion. So, as you read the passage, watch out for non-neutral words that indicate the author's feelings about the subject.
