A wolf eats 4.5 kg of meat in 2 days. A baby tiger eats 3 kg of meat in 4 days. How much meat can the two combined eat in three days?
A. 10.
B. 9.
C. 8.
D. 7.
E. 6.
The OA is B.
wolf eats 4.5 = 9/2 kg in 2 days, that's mean, 2/(9/2) =9/4 kg/day, right?
baby tiger eats 3 kg in 4 days, that's mean, 4/3 kg/day, right?
I don't have clear this PS question. I appreciate if any expert explains it to me. Thank you so much.

Hi AAPL,
We're told that wolf eats 4.5 kg of meat in 2 days and a baby tiger eats 3 kg of meat in 4 days. We're asked how much meat the two combined eat in three days. The math behind this question can be done in several different ways. It's worth noting that all five answers are INTEGERS though - so if 'your way' involves a lot of 'ugly math', then it's probably not the fastest/easiest way to answer the question.
Since the two 'rates' are given in terms of 2 days and 4 days, I'm going to 'convert' the data to 4 days.
A wolf eats 4.5 kg in 2 days, so it eats 9 kg in 4 days
A baby tiger eats 3 kg in 4 days
Thus, in 4 days a total of 9+3 = 12 kg of meat is eaten
We're asked how much is eaten in 3 days. Since 3 days is 3/4 of 4 days, a total of 3/4 of 12 kg of meat will be eaten in that time:
(3/4)(12) = 9 kg
Final Answer: B

4.5/2 + 3/4 = 9/4 + 3/4 = 12/4 = 3
So in 3 days they can eat 3 x 3 = 9 kg of meat.
