700 in 45 days flat!

by Shagun Singh » Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:01 am
Hi everyone!
I wrote my gmat on the 2nd of Sept and scored a 700! My Quant/Verbal split is 49/37 and my overall percentile is 90.
I began stuyding on the 14th of July. I did not take any classes and stuck to just the following:
1) Princeton Review - the warm up - to revise the basic concepts and strategies
2) OG 11 - The entire book, done thrice.
3) OG Quant/ Verbal supplements - Both done twice.
4) GMAT Prep papers - Scores 670 (Prep 1) and 690 (Prep2)
5) Manhattan GMAT papers - scores - 660, 620, 640, 660, 690, 700
6) Posts and success stories on this great forum!

I really did not think my score would touch 700 as I was averaging lesser in my mocks. But it came as a great surprise!
Im looking at applying to the top colleges now and I hope I make it. I have an impressive GPA and 4 years of work ex in advertising, at JWT, on the Pepsi business in India. Im hoping that this will be a good enough GMAT score to apply to some of the top programmes. Any views on whether I should retake or not?
Also, what colleges should I look at for a Marketing specialisation? As of now, Im thinking of Columbia, Duke and Insead. Any other suggestions?
Thanks a lot guys :)

Congrats on the 700. I am not an admissions expert but I think Kellog's has a good marketing program

Good luck!

hey thanks guys,
im sort of confused about whether 700 is a good enough score or do I need to retake? I have very really academic scores so I wonder if it makes too much of a difference by retaking and improving my score a little.
Any suggestions? Im intending to apply to colleges in top 15 rankings only.
