Took GMAT y'day and scored 730(Q50,V38), though far below from my mocks' avg I am satisfied with the improvement.
Donno whether the below text qualifies for a good debrief but this is the summary:
Scoring above 710 requires conscious effort with systematic approach:
Milestone tests:
1st mock after 30 days
2 mocks fortnightly in the 2nd month
4 mocks in 3rd month
Mocks every alternate days in the last week.
A mock test analysis is the life-saver and proper evaluation to help better in next mock a must.
Implement the strategies in as a purist would do, don't deviate even by a degree.
Donno how my debrief is but this all what I think one needs to take as a whole to play the game GMAT
Stacey Koprince's articles on analysis of questions and tests are gr8, I have some excels on my workout
I am readily available to help people taking GMAT in near future.
610(Q49,V26) to 730(Q50,V38)

kapsdeep...your jump is impressive. It just goes to show what a couple of points in the verbal section can do to your score.
Do you feel the OG/GMAT prep is enough to get a quant score of Q46-47? What are some things that one needs to keep in mind in order to score in this range in the quant section? It would be great if you could share any flashcards, notes that you prepared during your practice sessions.

I fully agree with you. The manhattan gmat books are great. I score pretty consistently in the range of Q43-44 on the manhattan tests, but I am unable to make the jump to Q46-48. I am good at inequality, number properties questions (re-phrasing divisibility/factors seems to be a bit of an issue though), but it's the word translation (mixed with VIC problems such as if I have r amount to spend this year kind of questions) questions that I struggle with.
Let me us know if the pattern of questions on the real thing is similar to the OG/GMAT prep (Some say it's become a lot tougher. It might just be an urban legend for all we know ) I'll try and exhaust the GMAT prep to cover my bases.
thanks!

Hi kapsdeep,
I wanted some insight on how many questions one should get right from the set of 41 to get a Verbal scaled score of above 40 (which you have ) ... I know that it is based also on the difficulty of the questions but I wanted to get a ball park number if there exists one.. Like I have seen on a couple post in the forum which state that one can afford to get around 6-7 questions wrong and still get a score of around 46-48 in quants..
Wanted to check with you if something of this nature also exists for Verbal...

Congrats on your great score.
Could you please share the details of Mock test that you have taken (whis company and in what order) - and how do you feel about them being close to real one. If you could share your scores in practise test as well - it will great to know how it correlates with actual test.

I did some research with GMATPrep s/w.....'ll send u the analyses of my scores(spl verbal)
There is some trick involved in 1-15 questions and getting questions wrong in a row( eg: 24-25-26-27, can hurt ur score more than anything)
If u r aiming 40+ in verbal do make sure u have an accuracy of 100% in RC in ur mocks because taking exam pressure into consideratrion that may drop to 12/13
I scored 42/44/45 with same number of incorrects(4) in my GMATPrep mocks
gimme ur mail id i'll send u my score analysis...I tried making it best, maybe it helps u either or u can try ur experimentation with GMATPrep s/w.....the s/w reveals amazing facts if u explore
gimme ur mailid ...i'll mail u or if u r n b'lore i will meet u n explain because I am good at conversationGAURAVshivhare wrote:Congrats on your great score.

I scored 49 in quants last time....so just can't suggest anything(because i didn't study for quants)skins81 wrote:great score. which books did you use for Quant?
But definitely Manhattan geometry guide helped me achieve 100% accuracy with geometry questions and also boosted my confidence, so if u have any specific weak area get a manhattan guide
I have geometry and VIC, if u need u can take it, I am in b'lore
