From 660 to 720...

by madsadman » Mon Mar 22, 2010 12:48 am
Hi All,

I am an Indian and like most other Indians, I also aimed at scoring 700+ at GMAT.
I started my preparation in August 2009 but did not get into the groove until January 2010.
I gave my first attempt on 6th Feb 2010 and scored 660. I was broken as I had been scoring 720+ on all the mock tests. I had even scored 760 on one of the GMAT Prep test.

So I decided to retake the examination. On 7th Feb, I took my next examination date of 21st March 2010. I did not do much in between except for strengthening my abilities on 'Verb Tense'. I knew I was weak in this particular area of sentence correction so decided to improve the same.

I did not believe in quantity but believed in quality during this period. Completed Kaplan Advanced and did some really tough CR passages.

One thing which contributed a lot to my score is beatthegmat.com
I was involved in answering a lot of SC questions with explanations and this involvement provided me a confidence.

I am unsure where should I apply in India as I want to do my MBA from India only, I feel I should get an interview call from ISB on this score. If anyone can help me out, I will be highly thankful.

Regards,
Himanshu Joshi

Why are you only considering schools in India? For long term career growth, you might consider throwing your name in the hat for a top school in Europe. Just a thought.

Hello Bryant,

Thanks for the reply. I had actually thought of applying to other international schools when I started this thread.
I had INSEAD, LSB and SLOAN on my mind.

Let us see what I do now.

Thanks,
