Work experience advice and second option

Post Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:29 am
Hello, i am an international student currently preparing for the GMAT.I recently received my undergraduate degree on accounting from "Universidad de Carabobo" in Venezuela, because of this i do not have a GPA.I ranked #7 in a 185 students class.

I took an internship on internal auditing and worked in an accounting department in my last year of college.

I want to apply for Rice University Jones school of business MBA program. However,i do not know how bad it can affect my lack of work experience to my application and i would like to have the opinion of an expert.Additionally, based on this i would like you to suggest me a second option for my application,my two choices for that place are UC anderson and Texas A&M.

PS: i got 97 in the TOEFL ibt and my goal for the GMAT is 700 or above.

Thank You.

Work experience for most schools is very important, and quite honestly it makes for a better MBA experience for the student. It will be challenging gaining admissions to any of the leading schools without full time work experience. cheers, Alex

there is no prescribed length of time, but I would think 2 years is at the lower end of the limit, and up to 5-6 years at the higher end. cheers, alex
