I think it should be A
B and C are wrong because majority(subject) doesnt agree with are(verb)
E:- 'expected for' is unidiomatic
D:- Looks awkward

here r two examples from manhuttan sc -
1)the majority of the students in this class are hard workers.
2)the student majority is opposed to the death penalty.
here "majority" is plural or singular depending upon the context.
now in the question above, the first half of the sentence says "Women are expected ....................,.............."hence the sentence is indicating to an event which is expected to happen in the near future.therefore we require a future tense in the second half of the sentence.
eliminate A n D bcoz "placing" is present continuous tense.
antecedant of "which" in C n E is not clear.
hence IMO B.
Thanks!

This might help:
Women are expected to be majority is awkward construction in gmat....expected to be majority----
Also, trend placing it is not trend placing it self-
the correct usage is a trend that will----it hasn't happened yet...
The original sentence using ing---indicates that it is happening now or the same time- which is incorrect----
imo-b
