What should be my ideal score ?

by chatabhi » Mon Feb 03, 2014 10:43 am
hi,
I am a 34 yr old female with 1year as a lecturer in Civil engg, 6 months in a structural design studion, 8 yrs in IT, (3 as a programmer 5 as a Business systems analyst). Have been thinking of MBA for long now, first attempt was 570 (hasty attempt, with anxiety attack)..
preparing again now after a gap of 4 years. BE-Civil engg(3.0gpa) ME-str engg(3.5 gpa). my profile is pretty weird as moved to IT post engineering as the Engg opp weren't that interesting.i have a gap of 1.5 years on my resume (baby mid 2012-current)I am planning to join back but first I want to get a good score in gmat.
my target schools are Insead or ISB india and will apply in 2014 R1.
what should be my ideal score? and do you think I can get into INSEAD?

Well, a 700+ would be nice, and would make things possible. Anything less than a 680 will make things hard to impossible for those schools (they have more than their pick of folks with amazing scores), so that score is all-important for you. As to your chances in regards to your profile, it's a wee bit hard to tell cause I'm missing a whooooole bunch of info from you...

But I think first thing's first - go ahead and beat that GMAT! (shameless plug for this website :) )

Well, lots of things!

For your work experience: Have you any leadership? What are your greatest achievements? How many promotions have you had? How have you done in reviews?

then: Any volunteer experience? How do your extra currics look? Where did you go to school? Any notable awards??

That would be a good start ;)

Best,
JF
