(1) x divided by 10 has a remainder of 7.

Say x = 10m + 7

x/5 = (10m + 7)/5 = 2m + 1 + 2/5. The reminder = 2. Sufficient.

(2) x divided by 2 has a remainder of 1.

Say x = 2k + 1

If k = 1, then the remainder = 3; however, if k = 2, then the remainder = 0. Not a unique answer. Insufficient.

The correct answer: A

Hope this helps!
