Hi lionsshare,
The equation that you're referring to is missing some details. It should be:
2/(1 + 2/Y) = 1 and we're asked for the value of Y.
Since the fraction equals 1, the denominator and numerator must be the SAME. Thus, the denominator must equal 2....
1 + 2/Y = 2
2/Y = 1
Y = 2
Final Answer: D

We need to simplify the equation 2/(1 + 2/y) = 1. We can start by multiplying both sides of the equation by 1 + 2/y, and we have:lionsshare wrote:If 2/(1+(2/y)) then y =
(A) -2
(B) -1/2
(C) 1/2
(D) 2
(E) 3
2 = 1 + 2/y
1 = 2/y
y = 2
