OG 11 DS problem

by pavithra » Wed Mar 14, 2007 1:21 pm
This problem is in the DS section (QN. no.146) of OG11.

Is n an integer?

1) n^2 is an integer
2) sq. rt of n is an integer

The answer given is B.

If n^2 is an integer, n should also be an integer , right??? Shouldn't the answer be D.

Someone please explain.

Thanks

Not necessary. Fitting in numbers is the easiest method to verify. Root of 2 is not an integer. But its square, i.e. 2 is an integer.
