IR Queries

by yourshail123 » Sat Oct 20, 2012 11:22 am
Queries over IR Section:
1) As we progress through the IR section, does the difficulty level of questions in the IR section changes depending on previous responses (as in Q/V sections)? OR Is IR a set of 12 pre-defined questions?
2) How is IR score calculated? We see multiple questions under the same question number - if we answer even one of the option incorrect whole question is deemed incorrect. For example, in two-part analysis, we have 2 columns and have to choose 2 options for 2 different variables. If we answer one of them correct and another wrong, is there any weightage for the answer marked correctly?
Similarly, in Graphical Interpretation question, we have to answer 2 questions with answers in 2 different drop-downs OR in a Table Analysis/Multi-Source Reasoning questions we have 3 questions to answer with 3 Yes/No options.

Hello! I am happy to answer your questions. The IR section of the GMAT exam is not computer-adaptive, so your responses to one question set will not affect the difficulty level of subsequent questions.

As for your second question, there is no partial credit in the IR section, so you must answer all answer options correctly to receive credit for the question.

Your score is calculated based on both the number and difficulty level of questions you have answered correctly.

Thank you for asking!
