nvm - amt of increase or decrease/original amount.
If share price was originally started at $10 then rose 20% to $12 then to 50% or $15 from the original amount then take 3/10 = .25 or 25%. remembered

Beginning of the year -> x

End of first quarter -> x+ 20/100*x = 1.2x

End of second quarter-> x(since it says it increased 50% from what was in the beginning of the year) + 50/100*x
=x + 50/100*x
= 1.5x

Percent Increase/Decrease(between end of first quarter to end of second qaurter)
= New - Original / Original * 100
= (1.5x - 1.2x ) / 1.2x * 100
= .3x/1.2x *100
= .3/1.2 * 100
= 3/12*100
= 25%

Hope this helps!

USE 100

100 is your friend.

100 --- 120 --- 150

(150-120)/120 = 1/4

Choose 25 %
