780! (Q50/V47)

by shortcake786 » Thu Aug 21, 2008 8:14 pm
I beat the GMAT! I was very surprised at my score. I was expecting around a 730. I also thought I got a bunch of questions wrong, but maybe it wasn't that many.

This site was amazing. My study plan consisted of 3 weeks. I read the OG11, and took all the free practice tests. MBA.com, MGMAT, Kaplan...

Kaplan - 670
Mgmat - 720
Gmatprep - 750
Gmatprep 2 - 760

Also, the flashcards from this site are SO useful. they have everything you need! I read them today before going to the testing site.

I still have to get my writing score, but hopefully this will help get me into b-school!

The quant section really comes down to 2 things. Knowing all of the mathematic principles, and doing lots of practice problems.

I would use kaplan or OG11 to study the mathematic principles, and memorize them - formulas, principles, everything. Then i would take every practice test i could find and go over ever single math problem i get wrong. The manhattan gmat practice test is especially good with answers, as are the OG11. the gmatprep does not really explain answers at all, so maybe you should do that one last and try to figure out the ones you got wrong on your own.

Then I would use the flashcards from this site and read them all for review, several times. Also the night before your test.

That worked for me, I hope it works for you!

People who study for 3 weeks and get a 780 make me feel like the dumbest idiot who ever walked on this earth.

Sigh.

Congrats on the great scores - your brains going to be on rent anytime soon?
