mental translation

by towerSpider » Mon Feb 07, 2011 4:52 am
My first (mother) language is not English. when i read the stimulus, of course i understand it but not well enough, but if i "mentally translate" and understand it in my mind then i understand it very well.

what's your take? should i continue this way? please drop comments and your experience.
People are not prisoners of fate, but prisoners of their own mind.

I believe every non native speaker face this problem. But thru practice you can minimize it. Mental translation will only slow you down, so try to overcome with it.
