thoughts about food during the test

by tandoor » Sun Oct 07, 2007 10:39 pm
Folks,
What do you recommend for food and drinks on the day of the test. I have mine at 2:00 pm therefore I was planning to eat a light lunch before the test but maybe health bars during the test breaks.

Which kind of health bars do you recommend to eat between the breaks?

Also, I was planning to have a bottle of Propel (fitness water) next to me while taking the test. Does the testing center allow us to do that? I suppose eating during the test is not allowed though.

Without proper nutrition my brain switches off, therefore I want to make sure I am ready for this marathon like test which I am due to take in week.

There was a big thread about what to eat a while back: https://www.beatthegmat.com/viewtopic.php?t=944

Personally, I'm a BIG fan of peanut butter and jelly before the test.

Good luck!

Thanks Eric.

What?! they don't let you keep water with you during the test. Hmm.. this will be a problem for me. I need a sugar boost 50-60 mins into a test segment and was counting on Propel.

So 10 mins to go to your locker, get the food/water and go and pee and run back to your test can be an interesting experience.

Well, will take it as it comes. I won't be the first one to experience this and surely not the last.

Careful not to over-hydrate either: https://www.beatthegmat.com/viewtopic.php?t=5476

I get my best mental boosts from protein with enough fat to keep me from getting hungry. Tuna is great. If you can make a tuna sandwich with mayonnaise and some tomato on rye bread (or something that isn't white...too much sugar), you'll be very satisfied and raring to go.

For my snacks, I like apples for a quick sugar boost, followed by a granola bar or maybe a mozzarella cheese stick.

Definitely don't do any of the Red Bull stuff, although Propel is probably ok.

Be at least somewhat glad you can't take water in to your testing room...you'll end up drinking more than you think and will seriously be wanting a bathroom break!!

To put in my 2 cents: be sure not to eat anything that you haven't had within the past 30 or so days. You don't want to load up on something that won't agree with you during the test.
