Approach to College

by camitava » Mon Sep 24, 2007 4:12 am
Hey Stacky/Ami,
I am preparing myself for GMAT and planning to appear it on Coming January i.e. Jan, 2008. I am working as software analyst in a software firm and I wish to do my MBA with finance major. Stacky/Ami, before appearing to GMAT, can I ask to college (thru online-mail or so), whether they can provide me to the subject as major in my MBA. I also need some financial assistance without which I can not complete my study. Stacky/Ami, what do think is it good time to ask them these types of questions? I am looking for your response. Pls help me out ...

Hi Amitava,

In terms of financial assistance, there is information on each school's website about how they can help you fund your MBA. Most student's take out loans while some are able to land grants and scholarships.

As for your other question: "can I ask to college (thru online-mail or so), whether they can provide me to the subject as major in my MBA."

I'm not sure what you mean? You mention you want to be a finance major, so I think that would be your subject - right?

Good luck!

Yop Amy(sorry for the mis-spelled name in my previous post - :) ), I wish to pursue my MBA with finance as major subject. But I dnt know whether I will be eligible for ant financial aide or not. My question was - Should I contact the universities to know the following facts -
A. At least what score they generally look for providing finance as major subject in MBA?
B. Am I eligible for any financial aide? If so, what is the procedure to apply for?
C. In regard to ur point -
Most student's take out loans
, my question is -
According to my knowledge, in VISA processing, I have to show the financial backup tp continue my study. They generally look for this just to ensure that the student will not work illegally in US to afford his stay, study or so. Is it so? If so, then shall I have to approach to the banks in US before boarding?

Am I clear to express my question this time? Amy/Stacky need ur valuable suggestion ...

Hi Amitava,

I would really contact each school directly regarding your visa/financial aid question - I don't feel comfortable handling that. We specialize in helping applicants gain admission, not in financial aid.
Should I contact the universities to know the following facts -
A. At least what score they generally look for providing finance as major subject in MBA?
B. Am I eligible for any financial aide? If so, what is the procedure to apply for?
A. Are you asking if you need a certain score on the GMAT to become a finance major? Anyone admitted to the school is allowed to take on the major they want.

B. Yes, you should contact the school to ask specific questions about financial aid, as procedures vary. Email or phone are both acceptable methods of contact.

Good luck!
