Strategy for last 2 weeks before GMAT
This topic has expert replies
I took GMAT last month. I screwed quant badly... Got 36 & ended with low 600 score (V-36; AWA-5.5). This is surprising because this is the worst i've performed on the whole & esp in quant i've never got anything less than 49 in practise tests. I am terribly demotivated & haven't been studying too much! My confidence has hit the rock bottom because I thought I prepared very hard the first time & this time I feel ill-prepared. My weak points seem to be CR & DS. Can someone suggest some good strategy for the last 2 weeks? Please help!!!

It sounds like you need to work on confidence--was it nerves that brought down your performance on test day?

So here's my question, and I know it is one that cannot be definitively answered. If I only focus on the OG and its supplements, and I can answer every question in those, not just memorize the answers, but actually understand how to answer them, then what do you think are the chances of getting over 700? I'm asking because I just went through the Quant Review and I seemed to be able to answer all of the questions without too much problem. There were a few I didn't understand, but most of my misses were stupid mistakes or simple principles that I can fix.
So, what are your guys' opinions? If you can answer every question in the OG, should that be enough to score over 700?

Understanding the questions is important, but the real question is can you understand/answer each question in OG under two minutes (or better yet, 90 seconds)?
Also, OG features easy, medium, and difficult questions--are you consistent across all question types?
The best way to gauge your performance is to take a practice test, especially GMATPrep.

Yep - as Eric says, have to add time into that equation. And you specifically have to be able to do the hardest 20% of questions within the time limits if you want to talk about a 700+.
kolkata, did you run out of time at all on the test? Did you have to work more quickly, at times, then you were comfortable working? Did you have to guess on any at the end? If you have to guess on more than 3 questions at the end, it will result in a score decrease - and the penalty increases as the number of questions on which you have to guess increases.
