Many people belive that redevelopment proposals are not a good idea whereas others belive that redevelopment proposals are essential for overall good of the population. The issue is a controvertial one but a closer examination reveals that redevelopment is important for several reasons.

One reason is that, redevelopment will create many jobs for people. For example, today an economic crisis is going on. Many people are loosing there jobs. To atleast slow down, though it may not completly elimeinate the problem of unemployment, it is necessary that new jobs are created. Furthurmore, these jobs will help the entire society directly or indirectly. Directly, this redevelopment proposal will be helpful for those people who belong to the construction bussiness and indirectly it will promote the growth in infrastructure in the locality. The infrastucture when available will be used by prospective residents. As this development goes on the cost of buying new homes will come down and it will also help in raising the status of living and will reduce the effects of poverty in the city or even in the country. Clearly, redevelopment proposals will benefit the entire society.

Another reason is that redevelopment will efficiently use the available space. Today as the population is increasing, the cities are expanding and there is less space available in the cities to live. People who cannot afford home in cities or places near to the cities are moving away from cities in the outskirts where affordable homes are available. To illustrate, in mumbai, india the city has expended so much that people have to travel hours to reach their offices from their homes. Travelling daily is basically a waste of time because the person cannot do much during the travel. If homes are consturcted by redeveloping the old building many people will be able to live in the cities and the travel to offices, though may not be completely eliminated but, will be reduced to a greater extent. As a result, perople will get more time to work without the exertion of travelling.

Third and prehaps the best reason is that redevelopment will create better homes and will provide better and additional amenities to not only the current residents but also to the new residents. I completely agree that redevelopment will will initially cause a lot of problems for the current residents of the building. This might not be a big problem for young people but for senior citizens who do not want any changes in their lifestyles, this redevelopment can be a big problem. Moreover, since senior citizens do not want to look for an alternative accomodation to shift during the time this reconstruction, will complete for the reason that this requires a lot of work and as their age do not permit them to do lot of physica work these people tend to avoid this situation. Therefore, a proposal which is better for the entire society is turned down mant times. The residents should realise that after the redevelopment is complete they will get new homes with better amenities which will make their lifes even more easy. Hence this redevelopment is necessary.

In summary, while there are arguments to be made for bot sides, it is clear that there are greater advantages to redevelopment. Certainly, the redevelopment is not easy for many people who currently reside in the buildings but in the long run after the redevelopment of the buildings is complete it will not only help the current residents by providing better opportunities but also will help the new residents to find a new home. Hence, the redevelopment proposal will do more good to the society and hence it is essential that people support the redevelopment than oppose it.
