54. professor’s philosophy

by gmat740 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 7:59 am
According to the professor’s philosophy, the antidote to envy is one’s own work, always one’s own work: not thinking about it, not assessing it, but simply doing it.
(A) one’s own work, always one’s own work: not thinking about it, not assessing it, but simply doing it
(B) always work; because you don’t think about it or assess it, you just do it
(C) always one’s own work: not thinking about or assessing it, but simply to do it
(D) not to think or assess, but doing one’s own work
(E) neither to think about one’s own work nor to assess it, it is always simply doing it

nope --- D is not parallel .... not to think ..... but doing

E -- is using awkward construct . assess it, it is
C --not parallel .. not thinking about .... but simply to do ...
B -- very odd .. :-)
A -- is left

I have eliminated B,C,E , yet I was in the middle of A and D why A is correct and why D is incorrect. Could someone provide explanation?

D)not to think or assess, but doing one’s own work -maybe ''doing'' distorts paralelism-

However what's the referent of it in A ? One's work or just work.

What's the source of this question?

B distorts the meaning.
C, D and E don't maintain parallelism.

So A.
